This Restaurant Was so Good I Almost Wanted to Gatekeep It…

I’m currently on a mission to find the best Mexican restaurants in Manhattan. I stumbled upon this restaurant called Taqueria St. Marks Place, and wanted to check it out. Not only are the prices amazing, but the ambiance paired with the classic menu made this place even more special.

It was pretty busy inside, but the wait wasn’t too long. All of the staff were friendly, and the service was FAST. I’m talking minutes after I ordered I got my chips & guac, and my watermelon marg. And minutes after that, I got my tacos!! Overall the service was 5/5. I went during the busiest time too around 5pm.

The aesthetic of this restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. It was decked out in decor from Mexico, and I got sat next to this huge gold Mayan medallion. I loved looking at all of the decor and artwork. Great vibes. They also had a ton of tvs, so it’s a great casual spot to watch some sports if you’re interested.

What I ordered:

• watermelon margarita (5/5)

• Chips & guac (4.2/5)

• 3 Bistek tacos (5/5)

I’m not even trying to glaze right now but everything was AMAZING. This is probably my favorite place I’ve tried so far. Very authentic. I can’t get over the prices too. It was $4 a taco, guac was $8, and I believe the marg was like $8-10 I can’t remember. I ranked almost everything a 5/5 because the flavors for everything were perfect. Especially the tacos. The margs were so good. I recommend the watermelon or pineapple. The guac tasted really fresh. I like how there wasn’t an overpowering taste of lime, it was very balanced. The chips weren’t my cup of tea, but they were made fresh & still good with the guac!
