I created a list that can help you build your basics in your closet so you can create a capsule wardrobe! You don’t have to get everything right away, and you can pick what fits your lifestyle best. I also like to get basics little by little to see what I really need and don’t need. It’s also important to do a closet clean out so you can really optimize space. Especially if you are wanting a fresh start, decluttering is a great way to start <3

Tops:

I typically like to have a variety of styles so I can create multiple outfits with a few different pieces. I find that neutral colors for layering pieces work the best!

  • Basic tanks (white, black, gray)

  • Cropped basic t shirt (white, black, gray)

  • Long sleeve bodysuit (white, black, gray)

  • Button up shirt (white)

Pants:

  • linen pants (white/black/tan)

  • Dress pants (white/black/tan)

  • Leggings (fitted/flare)

Denim:

  • black jeans (low/high rise)

  • Blue jeans (low/high rise)

  • Denim skirt (blue/white)

  • Denim jacket of choice

Skirts:

  • mini skirt (black/white)

  • Maxi skirt (black/white)

  • Printed skirt (cheeta, floral, stripes, etc. can create a lot of fun outfits)

Dresses:

  • little black dress (a must! Can do so much with 1 dress)

  • Maxi dress (neutral color)

  • Cocktail dress (a nicer dress you feel amazing in, the length should hit below your knee and above the floor)

Bags:

  • black bag

  • White bag

  • Fun bag (embellished, printed, ect)

Shoes:

  • 1 casual athletic sneaker

  • 1 Dressy sneaker

  • Ankle boots

  • Knee high boot

  • 1 casual sandal

  • 1 dressy sandal

  • Kitten heel (black/white)

Jewelry:

  • dainty earrings

  • Statement earrings

  • Signature necklace (versatile)

  • Rings that pair with everything

  • Bracelet set that pairs w everything
